Tuttimelon Vintage Oaks F.A.Q.’s

Q: Our any of our yogurts fat free?

A: Yes, in fact all our yogurts have zero fat (unless otherwise marked) and zero Cholesterol. But today’s nutrition goes well beyond just watching fat. Check out our Tutti-Wow products to help you combine health / fitness/ and yes, dessert into your weekly routine.

Q: What is the calorie count on the fat free yogurt?

A: Our “tart” based yogurts have approximately 25-30 cal./oz.,(100-120cal. per ½ cup serving.)

    Our sweet yogurts have approx. 30-35 cal. /oz. (120-140 cal./ ½ cup.)

Tutti-wow products only contain 8 - 10 calories / oz (32 cal. per half cup serving)

Q: Are any of your yogurts gluten free?

A: Yes, most of our yogurts are gluten free except Salted Caramel Pretzel and Crazy cookies. Please, however, check out the labels for specific dietary info or ask any team member about today’s offerings.

Q: What is Gluten?

A: A mixture of plant proteins occurring in cereal grains, chiefly corn and wheat, used as a flour

substitute in many recipes. A very small population of people are actually allergic to Gluten (Celiac disease), while others profess its removal to reduced inflammation or other allergic conditions / reactions.

Q: What is Taro?

A: Taro is a perennial, tropical plant, native to S.E. Asia, similar to a sweet potato. When blended with our Original Tart yogurt, it creates a slight sweet and tart experience with nutty vanilla undertones.

A very popular, signature flavor here at Tuttimelon Novato.

Q: Do all your yogurts contain live and active cultures?

A: Yes. All our yogurt products proudly display the” LAC” seal and have 8 times the minimum level of

good bacteria required to have that certification.

Q: Does freezing the yogurt kill the good bacteria?

A: No. The freezing process does not kill any significant amount of the cultures—in fact, during the freezing process the cultures go into a dormant state, but when eaten and returned to a warm temperature within the body, they again become active and are capable of providing all the benefits of cultures in a refrigerated breakfast yogurt product.

Q: What is the difference between Gelato and Ice Cream?

A: Gelato (Italian Ice Cream) has very low air content where ice cream can be as much as 60%-70%. This higher density creates intense flavors with extremely creamy textures. It is also produced mostly  with milk as opposed to cream reducing the fat content by over 30%..

Q: What is the fat content of your Gelato’s.

A: They all vary by flavor, but they have about 30% less butter fat than premium ice cream.

Q: What is the approximate gelato calorie count?

A: A small scoop (4ozs. = ½ cup) has approximately 350 calories

Q: Why is it so hard to find sugar free frozen dairy desserts?

A: All dairy products contain lactose, which is a form of sugar naturally found in milk. This makes up a lot of the sugar content in our products. We opt for real sugar as opposed to artificial flavors, syrups and chemicals that are often substituted in the “No sugar added” products you may find elsewhere. All of our Yogurt / sorbets have approximately 3.75 grams of sugar/ oz. (15grams in a ½ cup serving). Check out the facts on Tutti-Wow to see why it’s the natural choice.

Q: Do you offer anything that’s sugar free?

A: We are the only yogurt shop in all of California to feature Tutti-WOW! It’s made from Lactose and fat free milk (think Lactaid) and has all natural ingredients. Using fructose (derived from fruit, all natural) as a sweetener also makes it low Glycemic and very diabetic friendly. At only 8 calories / oz. (32 cal. in a 4 oz. serving) it’s a game-changer in the frozen yogurt business. Whether you’re counting calories, reducing your sugar, cutting carbs, lactose intolerant, or just have no time for empty calories, this is for you.

Q: What are those tiny liquid balls in the cold topping area?

A: They are called “Juice Poppers” and are made from juice and water and wrapped in a micro-thin layer of seaweed (agar). These amazing “water balloons” create an explosion of flavor in your mouth.

Q: Why do you serve the samples here when we get to do it ourselves at other places?

A: We know that we have great ingredients going into our Yogurt machines. Presenting an excellent  product is a priority at TM (did you see our gelato?). The only way to ensure your sample is representative of what you should expect when you build your own cup is to go the extra distance to serve you personally. We also encourage our team members to constantly monitor the dispensed product for flavor, consistency,  density and overall texture. In addition, the Taylor C-713 (the Mercedes of yogurt machines) is a very temperamental machine. It requires constant monitoring to obtain / maintain precise settings to ensure great, consistent quality. So, rather than ask why we’re different, perhaps the competitors should be asked  why they’re not as particular on ensuring a great experience for their customers. Some customers are so used to this high level service that they share stories from some places where you do it yourself.

We also like to engage with our customer during the sampling process… especially on new flavor offerings. We make  most of our soft serve products on premises and serve up some unusual categories, so having a “guide” there may be  useful. We also love the feedback on our products, and often tweak recipes based on customer response.

Q: Do your products freeze well for enjoyment at home?

A: Absolutely! You may, however, encounter a rise in the density of your yogurt as some of the air initially whipped into the product subsides. We encourage you to place your topping in a separate container as not all topping are enjoyable frozen. Yogurts can be consumed right from your freezer while gelato should be eaten about 15 minutes after it’s removed from the freezer.

Q: How long have you been doing business?

A: Tuttimelon Novato, a family owned, non-franchised, independent business has been serving up great products in Vintage Oaks, Novato, Marin Co since 2010.

Q: How does your REWARD program work?

A: Every $4.00 increment spent during your visit will earn one stamp, regardless of the # of cups. All  purchases including yogurt, gelato, pretzels, drinks earn rewards. They cannot, however, be combined with any other promotion or discount offering. The cards never expire and multiple cards  can be combined to earn your free ($4.00 max.) yogurt / gelato.
